FITNESS DESCRIPTIONS

BURN FAT & IMPROVE CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH: 
INSANITY®: In INSANITY®, you will do cardio and plyometric drills with intervalsof strength, power, resistance and core training.  It all happens in long bursts of maximum-intensity exercises with short periods of rest so you can burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour.  There are modifications for every fitness level to ensure you get the best workout possible. It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s effective!

JAZZERCISE™: Burn up to 600 calories in one fun and powerfully effective 60-minute total body workout.  Choreographed to today’s hottest music, Jazzercise is a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing.  Start dancing yourself fit and change the shape of your body today!

SPINNING®: Performed on indoor cycles, this class combines basic cycling movements with motivational coaching techniques to give you a unique exercise experience.  Motivating music and group dynamics make this an enjoyable, safe and effective workout for all fitness levels.  You MUST bring a water bottle with you to stay properly hydrated during spin classes.

PILOXING®: Piloxing uniquely mixes Pilates and boxing moves in a fat torching, muscle sculpting, core-centric interval workout, guaranteed to whip you into shape, using a class format that is both fun and challenging. Piloxing blends the power, speed and agility of boxing with the beautiful sculpting and flexibility of Pilates.

ZUMBA® Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music and dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting and energizing workout.  You will not even realize you are exercising with the party-like atmosphere where EVERYONE can dance.


IMPROVE FLEXIBILITY & STRENGTH:

TOTAL BODY FITNESS: Build strength and fitness using a variety of equipment, resistance and body weight exercises.

PILATES: Pilates offers a functional approach to strength and flexibility training.  Pilates exercises are created to strengthen abdominal and back muscles by developing pelvic stability and abdominal control to improve your posture and form in all areas of your fitness program.

YOGA: An ancient discipline for cultivating physical, mental and spiritual health.  Yoga is a series of carefully designed postures with a strong emphasis on breathing, concentration and flexibility.  You’ll strengthen the body while calming the mind.

 

IMPROVE METABOLISM & SCULPT MUSCLES:

BODYPOWER®: A 60 minute workout that challenges all major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.  Great music, motivating instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!

TRX™ CLASSES: TRX™ suspension training is a revolutionary method of leveraged body weight exercise.  TRX™ classes are designed to build power, strength, flexibility, balance, mobility and prevent injuries, all at the intensity you choose.  Athletic Club Alabama is one of the ONLY fitness centers in our area to offer TRX™.  TRX INTERVAL CLASS focuses on strengthening the entire body using reps and sets on the TRX, while the TRX CIRCUIT TRAINING CLASS incorporates TRX exercises along with boot camp style drills.  We are now taking advance reservations for all TRX classes. FITBALL: This class uses fitballs and dumbbells to strengthen and lengthen your muscles while you improve balance and agility.
